Meet Lucky

Well, after over ten years, two countries, a child... Andrew and I have finally gone and made the plunge together... meet Lucky:

We aren't sure if that will be his permanent name - but that was the name the Forgotten Cats shelter had given him. He's a delightful guy - somewhere between 2 and 5 - and this next picture really shows his personality:

He's a rather mellow lap cat! This afternoon he couldn't make up his mind between Andrew and me - he kept moving from lap to lap to get pets and love.

"A-ha... I have them right where I want them... muwha-ha-ha-ha!"

He also seemed very interested in what the Comcast Cable guys were doing outside:

We had one little peeing incident tonight. He was in Andrew's lap, then came up to snuggle in mine and all of a sudden I feel HOT! I am not sure whether he was just comfortable and let it go or what. He doesn't have any history of this problem and he is litter-trained. Andrew rushed him downstairs and re-acquainted him with the litter box while I cleaned up the mess and ran out to the pet supply store to get some anti-stink spray. For tonight he is sleeping in the basement where we have his litter box (we put his bed and food down there tonight as well). Anyone have any advice?

Great cat! He looks like quite a lover. No advice about the peeing thing. Good luck with that! But if something works, let me know.

He's so pretty! Have you had him checked out by a vet? I wonder if it could be a urinary tract infection? Maybe it was a one-time thing.

I wouldn't panic. But definitely a visit to the vet if it continues. He's really striking looking.

Smart idea doing the traveling and kid and then the cat!

He looks like a sweetie--I love a good lap whore, I mean cat.

What a lovely little guy! On the peeing thing, if it re-occurs, make sure that he likes your litter of choice. We went through a series of litter trials, at the advice of a behavioral specialist veterinarian at the University of Georgia (yep, cat shrink). There are lots of other things you can do, too, to make sure he's comfortable. But if it's a one-time thing, I wouldn't worry too much. Although UTI is a possibility, too. Has he been to the vet for a onceover yet, or did they do that at Forgotten Cats?

It's so kind of you to welcome him into your fmaily - does Willow love him??

What a cute little snuggler! He looks all lovy and mellow and cuddly.

As for the peeing, if you just got him, he may still be getting used to his new home. Make sure to clean up all pee stains with a cat pee deodorizer so he doesn't think it's OK to go there. Taking him to the litter box, setting him in it and scratching his paws around in the litter should be enough to re-acquaint him with its use.

I wouldn't worry until he does it a second time. Don't freak yet! And at least he did it where you knew about it right away and could clean it! He's a cutie! And he certainly is "Lucky" to have found you!

He is one handsome kitty. Looks so sweet and friendly too!

I agree that litter choice, or a UTI could be an issue. I wouldn't worry until it happens a second time. I would keep an eye on his box to see if he is using it.

you know I have no advice as far as the peeing goes. He is adorable and how lucky is he to have been picked for your home. Yay, a family pet!

What a cutie pie! Might of just been an accident getting used to his new surroundings. I think you have a keeper...
