WiP It Wednesday

Look, Ma! Her eyes are open!

This is the top-down cardigan sweater I am knitting Willow to conform to her school's new uniform standards. I am under no illusion that I will be finished the sweater by the time she starts Kindergarten in two weeks - but then again, it will be a good 2 months before she probably will need to wear it.

The temperature today people? 95'F/36'C in the afternoon with a humidity factor of 107'F/42'C. I *hate* summer.

Anyway, I am not terribly keen on this pattern. It is not well-written (many line mistakes in different areas), they don't give how many stitches you should have at crucial areas of the sweater, and I have had to fudge things as I have gone along. I don't think I will be knitting anything from this book again. I know my Mom loves doing top-down patterns, so this book may be coming her way (and she can feel her way through it). I much prefer raglan sweaters worked from the bottom up.

Aw, it's a shame that pattern is poorly written, I was going to ask you where you got it. I'm all about the top down!

I'm with you on the summer hating. My fingers keep slipping off the keys they're so sweaty. Gross!!!

Summer is my least favorite season too. I prefer to add a layer of clothing if I'm chilly rather than getting down to unmentionables if I'm too hot.

Willow is so cute in that photo!! I love top down sweaters as there is minimal if any seaming to be done. I haven't done any that way in a long time though.

I agree, the heat has been pretty outrageous this summer!

I love the warmth of summer, but I hate not being able to exercise, and I really hate how the heat makes my body chemistry even more corrosive. Yarn felts under my fingers, I can feel it as I knit.

Willow is just adorable. I don't think there's ever been a bad picture of her, and I doubt there ever will be. I hope the top down challenge works out, then she can model the FO!

I have never knit a top down sweater pattern. If there is less seaming I will definetely keep a look out for them.

Love the deep green color choice. Great for Fall.
