WiP It Wednesday

It sure looks like a finished object, doesn't it?

Sadly, it is not - I have a gazillion ends to weave in - probably my least favourite thing about knitting. Even more so than seaming pieces together.

Here is a finished hat:

Both of these hats, and one to-be-determined are intended for Hats for Alex. I am really glad I saw this on Pam's blog - I was looking for someone else to make hats for now that Dulaan is no longer accepting this stuff.

And the other UFO currently in play? Willow's Polkadot sweater that I had started to knit for Willow as a school sweater... before I found out that this is not one of the pre-approved colourways. Colourways, hell - only solids and only a handful of them at that.

And lastly - something precious out of Willow's mouth this morning. She has a toy piano (courtesy of my friend Carrie) that plays the odd muzak selection if you hit the right buttons. So this morning she is hitting random songs and apparently finds one she likes. "Mom!" She calls out - "It's like church music." and she has this absolute serene look on her face. The song? "Let It Be" by the Beatles.

I love the Willow background for the hat pics. Very...... interesting.

Maybe I didn't eat enough dinner--I was focused on Willow's bread bowl!

I suppose "mother Mary" could be interpreted to be a nun in that song too! ;-)

Ditto on the Bread bowl!! Great sock selection from Willow! Nice looking hats (sad about Dulaan too, we're going to have to find a place for our wool hats!) I love that colorway for Willow's new sweater too!

The breadbowl was an unsuccessful experiment, unfortunately. I bought them at Panera so Andrew and I could have them with the Black Bean and Chicken soup I had made from scratch (thank you very much!), but Willow deemed it too spicy and tried to spit it out (a big no-no in my world). She swallowed the soup and said she would rather have tomato soup. She did eat the 'lid' of the bread bowl and some of the stuff torn out of the middle to make room for the soup (and the soup - the kid loves Campbell's Tomato!) - but the breadbowl was left all forlorn. Andrew and I enjoyed ours, however ;)

Willow started Kindergarden, oh wow she is growing up fast.

My garden is in a little fenced area about 10 x 8 feet. I have way more cilentro & basil than I can ever use.

I love mojitos too. I got sick of buying the mint and all the stuff and now just buy the mojito mix and add rum and a little squirt soda.

You could definetely plant some mint in a pot and grow it off your porch or kitchen window. I am sure one or two plants would be enough.

I have to agree with bezzie and zonda- I was mesmerized by the breadbowl, as no discredit to your knitting.

I will so weave in those ends for you....I'm starting to really like it.

I can't believe they limit colourways - next thing you know they'll be limiting the yarn brands as well!

I understand the concept of uniforms minimizing "fashion arms races" and making everyone look demure and proper, but really, what is the use of making everyone look the same?
