WiP It Wednesday: Sprog at 34 Weeks

Sprog12.22.10 Sepia

Another week, another ultrasound. This was the fourth in the cycle, and every fourth appointment is a longer one where they measure the baby's limbs, weight, etc. How long was the appointment? I'm not entirely sure - because I fell asleep on the table! I've been on vacation since Monday afternoon and I have been indulging in all sorts of bad behaviour like staying up until 2am reading...

Sprog is trucking along - the ultrasound tech says Sprog is 4lbs 14oz now, and I was told that anything over 5lbs is not really considered premature. Not that I am advocating Sprog making an appearance before the new year, but I have a sneaky suspicion that we will not be going all the way until February 1st. I've been having Braxton-Hicks contractions every day for about a week now - the longest stretch was for about 90 minutes last Friday. I was knitting and catching up on all my documentaries (yes, I'm a nerd - I watch documentaries like some people watch soap operas) and after about 45 minutes I realized these contractions were coming at regular intervals. Hmm... maybe I should start timing these. They were about 6 minutes apart lasting for a minute each for about another half hour, and then they petered out. I mentioned them to Andrew as we were climbing into bed and his eyes just about bugged out.

The other funny thing about today's appointment was that Sprog was going crazy during the ultrasound - so much so that the tech was laughing because you could see the belly moving away from the ultrasound wand. Yep - sounds like one of mine.
